The program provides language, literacy and numeracy training for eligible clients. The program seeks to improve clients' language, literacy and/or numeracy with the expectation that such improvements will enable them to participate more effectively in training or in the labour force and lead to greater gains for society in the longer term.
Eligible clients are referred to a Language, Literacy and Numeracy Program provider by Referring Agencies, currently Centrelink and Job Network Members.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy Program Request for Tender
Please be advised of the status of the Language, Literacy and Numeracy Program (LLNP) Request for Tender (RFT) process.
On 13 June 2008, Minister Gillard released a LLNP Services Discussion Paper for Consultation in anticipation of releasing a RFT in October for the delivery of LLNP services from 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2012.
The Australian Government has made a commitment to review all government programs and as a result the Department of Finance and Deregulation has recently advised the Department that a review of the LLNP is scheduled. To ensure that any outcomes of this review can be implemented, it will be necessary to defer the LLNP tender process until after the outcomes of the review are known in May 2009.
As such, the Department will not be releasing the LLNP RFT at this time but will be negotiating with current LLNP Providers to extend their contracts for 12 months until 30 June 2010.
It is expected that the LLNP Request for Tender process will recommence, after the review, in mid to late 2009. Further advice on the RFT process will be provided on this Website in May 2009.
